Yes, as from 3.93 onwards, the SAVI libraries have been changed to be more thread safe using the existing semaphores. You can no longer start a session as root and then run as another user, was I think the gist of it. Sophie has had to make a change to allow for this. This will also take effect in the glibc-2.0 version at some point. How this affects the libSAVI implementation I don't know. As you say I thought Amavis already did the child initialisation as $user (AFAIK you've never been able to share sessions between children anyway). What does it do after that ? You may need to go to Sophos.
