I could be way off here, but doesn't postfix by default add it's own default domain to the From address if no domain is given? If I send an e-mail into my gateway with the SMTP 'mail from:' header set to only the username part (e.g. mail from:<user>) it ends up in my mailbox as being from [EMAIL PROTECTED] and I've seen some spam come in (before I setup amavis, SA, etc) that way.
