Perhaps it is not a functional virus but only its fragment or inappropriately
encoded virus into MIME structure. It is not inappropriate for a virus scanner
to not treat it as infected mail. Or there may not be a virus after all, but a
false positive on some overly-eager virus scanner.

Can you place your mail sample on some http or ftp server for inspection?
