In fact it is a job of LDA. For a beginner following the popular setup
of postfix/mysql virtual mailboxes this task isn't easy, though
possible - see maildrop HOWTO at postfix site. I don't know whether
procmail can be used with virtual mailboxes.

With SquirrelMail it is just a matter of configuring filters. Of
course, it works only when the user logs in.
