we are using Amavisd-new 2.3.3 with Spamassassin 3.1.3 on a SuSE Linux
Enterprise Server 10 in the following constellation:
A firewall appliance (DEFENDO) fetches e-mails from ISP and forwards them
to a server on which is amavisd-new with Spamassassin listening on all
interfaces at TCP port 25. Amavisd-new forwards them after spam check (no
virus check) to a IBM Lotus Domino server which is running on the same
machine. Domino's SMTP server is running on TCP port 125.
The problem is that amavisd-new stops working every day at different time
of day. Sometimes this happens several times. Although we raised the log
level to 5 it's not apparent what the problem is. Amavisd-new simply
ceases to work and does not make any further log entries. The log ends
with an entries like

After a restart of amavisd-new it works again for some time.
We have a similar (amavisd-new 2.1.2 with SA 3.1.3 on SLES 9)
configuration which is running without problems. We appreciate any help.
