I think i remember running into the clamd.ctl problem.
It's something like you have to stop amavis and run clamav first.
If amavis is alive before clamav something weird happens i believe. or 
it may be the other way around... don't remember clearly.

I just remember that the order of which daemon is started first 
determines whether clamd.ctl can be created. Play with that a bit that 
might help.
