i've just been informed in #zimbra,

        that's amavis for you
        your choice
either you get a notification and the payload, or nothing at all

and the ball's been kicked into amavis' court.

i'm happy to work more closely with upstream, so ....

the behavior i currently see is EITHER,

        $final_virus_destiny = D_DISCARD
        $virus_quarantine_to = 'm...@mine.com'

and virus payloads ARE stored along with the notification message sent
to 'm...@mine.com',

OR, as per the docs,

        $final_virus_destiny = D_DISCARD
        $virus_quarantine_to = undef
When a virus is detected, the mail will be discarded.

and NO notification at all is sent.

is it possible, currently, to convince existing amavis to BOTH

        (1) detach/discard the virus payload, and not store it
        (2) still send a detailed notification message to the virus
        quarantine address

? if not, might that be considered as an RFE?

thanks
