Hitesh Shah commented on AMBARI-575:
------------------------------------
Part of this was addressed in AMBARI-580. However, a full code cleanup is still
needed to support:
1) a full 64-only cluster ( should not need jdk32 anymore)
2) a full 32-bit only
3) a mixed approach if performance tests show that 32-bit DN/TTs are a must in
critical production environments with the latest version of jdk-1.6.0u31
> Datanode/tasktracker process should be able to be run in 64-bit mode.

> As mentioned in AMBARI-546, it may not be necessary to run the processes in
> 32-bit mode given the fixes in jdk ( post 1.6.0u23 ). Given that AMBARI
> already requires u26, it might be good to introduce a tunable option to run
> the processes in 64-bit mode.
