Patch #12 we need to clean this up a bit more, otherwise we will run
into issue with mixed APUs+Vega10 systems (or even Vega10+older dGPU).
Yes, we need to pull this into the driver rather than using the global variable
directly. Then we can set reasonable defaults per family if the global
variable is set to auto.
