+1 as well, I totally agree with your analysis and the fact that it's basically
covered by the current documentation. Core has proven to be a "bad idea" as it
is not a concrete concept (like web and multi-tenancy are). I also agree that
making platform a new "module" in Git and creating a hierarchy there is the way
to go.
