Matthijs Hendriks commented on AMDATU-562:
------------------------------------------
My idea on this is to create small demo's, that have the needed config files
included and a file listing the required bundles. The server takes care of
retrieving/copying the bundles.
The demo provides:
* The bundle (obviously)
* The required config files
* A list of bundles it needs
The server provides:
* The Amdatu platform base
* All bundles required
On start-up, the start-up script:
* Copies all bundles required
* Copies all config files required
This may not be an optimal solution, so suggestions are welcome.
An other option is to have the release-server include all demo's already
(gather them when built). This is easier to script, but it is not possible to
simply download a demo and run it, as the server will need a rebuild. Also, it
leads to a lot of duplicate packages, since each demo will need its own folder
in the server with the required bundles included.
> Rethink kitchensink setup / purpose

> The kitchensink was set up at the start of the 0.3.0 milestone having
> different platform configurations. Later on it was extended with a web
> platform and demo introducing a new platform that can only support one demo.
> So there are dependencies between platform and demos. If we keep extending
> this way is will become a huge release with a lot of redundancy and a
> maintenance nightmare.
> As this original intend was to create something that helps developers to
> learn about Amdatu platform I think we should rethink setup and purpose
> before we extend on it more. Sofar it does not look liek it does anyone much
> good and clearly nobody has look at it yet.
