True; several improvements can be made to the ace-deployment-task service.
There's a tiny API for the MA present: DeploymentService, which is used by both
the check & update tasks that also reside in that same bundle. If those tasks
would reside in a separate bundle, the whole functionality would be at least
somewhat better pluggable.
I've created https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACE-233 for this.
