I have downloaded and built the program

$ avra --version
AVRA: advanced AVR macro assembler Version 1.3.0 Build 1 (8 May 2010)

I have renabled the .overlap directive in devices/$(MCU)/device.asm.

avra does not complain and build a .hex file. I have yet to test
the result.
