Only with a serial driver (and a matching computer terminal setting)
which implements RTS/CTS handshake (or at least software xon/xoff) you
can be sure that characters don't get dropped.

I offered a patch for AmForth but Matthias needs further convincing :-)

P/S When programming the Flash AmForth disables interrupts, another
reason for RTS/CTS handshake.
