Allan,

Well after 4 hours of very tedious work I now know how to clean up the
Sector/Industries List so it Only reflects Quotes Plus assignments. A little
history is in order first to explain how things work. In the root directory
of AmiBroker there are two files - broker.industries and broker.sectors.
These files set up the Sector/Industries List anytime a new database is
created. After the creation they just sit there and do nothing. The default
file that come with AmiBroker setup the Sectors/Industries to match the way
Yahoo assigns the categories, which is not the same way that Quotes Plus
assigns. Now when you set up a Quotes Plus database the correct assignments
are made, but you also get the empty entries from the default files in
AmiBroker. But there is a fix. Close AmiBroker, go into Windows Explorer
and go to the AmiBroker root under Program Files. Rename the
broker.industries and broker.sectors to something else like
broker.industries.org and broker.sectors.org. Now copy in the two files I
have attached into the same location. These two files have been set up to
match Quotes Plus. Now open AmiBroker and create a New Quotes Plus
database. When creating tell it to use when AmiBroker opens. This new
database will have the correct sector and industry lists. Make sure all your
database setting are the same as I explained in my earlier message. Save
your database and exit AmiBroker. If you have created special Watch lists in
your old Quotes Plus Database, go into Window Explorer again, find you old
database under root of AmiBroker and browse through the list of folders
until you find a folder called WatchLists. Copy the WHOLE folder, then move
into your new database and paste the copied file in. You will be warned that
file already exists, just go ahead and over write it. If you didn't yet
create any special watch list then this step is not necessary. Now open
AmiBroker and your database will be set for use. Test it, look it over, and
once you are sure everything is the way you expect and want it to be, close
AmiBroker and from Windows Explorer again delete the old database.

I hope this walkthrough will get you up and going quickly. If you have any
question, let me know. Now I am going to have a drink!! I earned it!
