I have come across this problem as well. After I transfered a text file
from my Amiga onto my Psion I can remember noticing that a character which
had originally had an umlaut was changed. As it was only one character I
wasn't worried. I don't normally use the translation option which may be
why I haven't noticed this problem before. I normally use AmigaNCP to take
backups and install psion software/files without conversion.
Can someone explain how the conversion works and how it decides which
characters to change?
BTW I have a 3c, how about series 5 owners?
