Depends on how the URL parser detects the presence of an email address. 
Sometimes a hostmask will look like an email address, and sometimes not.

I've not encountered this yet.  No problems on Undernet and Amiganet where I
usually chat.

It sets a CTCP Ignore for the person you are chatting with.  You have to
clear it from the Settings/Lists/Ignore tab if you wish to talk to them
again.
