Agreed...

Never happened to me, and I have had AmIRC connected 24/7 (with Miami) for
nearly 3 years.

I tend to disagree with this. For instance, I am 7 miles from an IRC
server on one network I frequent. But the lag is so bad to it from my
main connection that I could drive over to the server faster than
my packets make it to it. Sure the distance is short. But if you
do a traceroute to it, you see that the route the data takes is a long
one! It goes from my house, to my ISP, to the Espire backbone, then to
Alternet, all the way to greensboro, then to atlanta, then hooks up
with Cable & Wireless, then back to greensboro, then to here.
A total of 14 hops to go those 7 miles! No wonder there's lag for me!

Where as another server is over 2500 miles away, in San Jose Cali...
It's only 8 hops away, and I usually have pings to that server that
are less than 1/4 of a second.

No, try irc.reefer.org.... hahaha another blatant plug!

Hey! That reminds me! AmIRC needs a default server list, ala mIRC's
server.ini or whatever it is.

Giving people a long list of IRC networks/servers when they first unpack
the thing!

I will make another post to suggest this...
