You missed the point of the question.. He wants to know if you can set a
script to prompt for input before it actually executes.. in this case $$?
or $? will request the appropriate text to enter.

It is possible in the case of an arexx script using rexxreqtools.library
where you can specify a requestor to pop up and either select an option or
prompt for text.

It would not be as simple a solution as a native form of requested variable
from Amirc but it would do what he wants.
