Greets.
First of all i have to say i love the new channel tags =)
Running fine here, however i have noticed a few small things regarding modes
and how AmIRC handles... or not handles em.
Now, the new mode listing which is kewl and much better imho shows the
following modes:
+flrnt
Now, a /mode displays this however.
Mode Current modes for #WorldVillage: no messaging, topic protection,
limited to 2000 user,
Both +r and +f are missing from the /mode.
Here is what the raw info from the server actually is.
:ShadowRealm.UT.US.VillageIRC.net 324 Apoc #worldvillage +nrtlf 2000 7:5
AmIRC filters out a lot when it comes to channel modes. It in many cases
wont even display a mode change when fex setting mode +h on someone which
on many networks designates a HalfOp. (ChanOp with limited privs).
The raw log will show that quite correctly AmIRC recieves the mode change.
:[EMAIL PROTECTED] MODE #worldvillage +h Apoc
But AmIRC ignores that mode completely. The same applies to many other modes
aswell.
Yes i know these are non standard modes to the RFC, but afaik there is
barely any networks out there not breaking the RFC. DALnet does it, IRCNet
does it, and most minor networks does.
I as of current have 60 registered Server Admins using my IRCd which does
support these modes and more. And with an average download rate of 200-300
per release i belive yes AmIRC should if not support, at least not filter
out information like this. Considering most other clients dont either.
UnrealIRCd and multiple other IRCd's that are widly used by smaller nets
also support modes like HalfOps.
I am not interested in sparking off another debate on this list about wheter
AmIRC should or should not support non RFC stuff because that discussion
seems to be endeless.
And we are not talking Support here, we are simply talking about handleing
things the right way, cause i cant really say i agree to that when a client
selectively hides something simply because it does not know exactly what it
does from its users, that it is handeling MODE correctly. mho.
I have also noticed that the shortcut keys for the Single Channel seems to
work only when it feels like it. R AMIGA + 1, 2, 3 etc.
And i have noticed that in AmIRC3.3 when at least when running single window
mode, writing mails in YAM fex tends to lag when something is being posted
to any of the channels im joined.
As im writing this its driving me nutz making it seem like im writing a mail
using a very lagged Telnet connection. I currently have 4 channels open in
single window mode, where only 1 channel have any activity... and its
light.
Keep up the good work.
