Hi,

this is really a FAQ, so I'll better explain in public:

If you register AmIRC 3.x (or V3.x, for that matter), you'll be
getting two keys -- one AmIRC 3.x key, and also an AmIRC 2.x key with
the same serial number, in case you want to run AmIRC 2.x for some
reason.

This also happens if you update from AmIRC 2.x to AmIRC 3.x -- sorry
for this, but the key generation script doesn't, at this stage,
differentiate between a "new" AmIRC 3.x key and an updated key.

This happens automatically, and you are not charged twice. If you
don't plan to run AmIRC 2.x, you can delete the AmIRC 2.x key. If you
already *have* an AmIRC 2.x key because you're updating, you can
use either of the two keys.
