irc.dal.net is now requiring all users to use IdentD. If your login-name
has a telga character before it ( ~ ), your IdentD did not work. In the
server window, you should have it checked (a checkmark next to "Use
IdentD?"). Also any listings in your TCP stack, such as your IP-filter
that is blocked, you will need to unblock it. I enter in the ip's I use
to connect to my irc servers. That way only the irc servers are allowed
to get my authentication. If your irc client doesn't support IdentD,
look in a list in your TCP stack and see under Services list or similar
that port 113 or service label AUTH is listed and activated. Then use
your IP to allow only irc servers....I am not familiar with firewalls,
perhaps you can program to watch port 113 and ask you to accept or reject
access.

Make sure you have your login name enterered & your real name entered.
Don't forget the channel nick you will be using. Most servers will not
accept long nicks or truncate them. Some irc networks won't accept
special characters in nicks and/or names.

Also the spelling of the irc server you are connecting must be correct.
Most servers you can connect to a certain port like 6667.

Finally if you have an unsecured tcp-stack such has 23 or 1080 open, the
network will kill you offline and refer to a website to secure it. Visit
the website on step-by-step instructions to keep your computer secure.
