You just volunteered for making a standard (or private, I dont mind) MUI
list class which does these color codes.

Really, what you are asking is a lot more work than you can probably
imagine, and is not going to happen anytime soon. Stripping the colorcodes
was the next best alternative, and that is what has been done.
