The R390 is probably your best choice for high quality
audio, repeatable frequency readout, and availability
in the marketplace.
The bandwidth of this receiver is defined by LC
circuitry, and the choices specified at 4-8-16 are
actually a bid wider than that given the gentle
rolloff.
For 10 and 40 meters, I find the Squelch very useful
when you're monitoring while working on the bench or
what have you.
