That sounds like it would work ok..the 122 is a pretty darn good vfo,i run one 
with my viking 2 on AM and like it just fine.there's one on ebay right now with 
a bid of around 20 some $.Heck of a deal if you can win it. y ou would need to 
provide power for the 122 as it doesn't have it's own supply...good luck..Ron
