Yep, and some of them aren't convenient to turn off, such as your
thermostat or telephone. And, now that manufacturers are all concerned
about being Green and minimizing standby power, most consumer products
are going to switching power supplies that are "unintentional
radiators". Whenever you see a device waiting for you to hit a button
on a remote control, or just a soft-touch on/off switch that you know
isn't capable of controlling the AC power directly, there's probably a
microcontroller inside, powered by a circuit that puts out as much RF as
it can while still meeting FCC restrictions.
The "big switch" is a pretty good idea!
