Hi Tom,

Thanks... Well, the nicotine actually preserved the radio. :-). It came off NP with Windex with Vinegar.

The chassis is another story. The copper cladding has been eaten away from something that spilled inside and was left to do its damage. I think I am going to take it down to bare metal and spray it with something.

As far as the sticker is concerned... Get your hands on some Goo Gone. Wal Mart sells it as well as many other variety stores. Apply it to the sticker and let it set for like 30 mins or longer, the sticker should get translucent. Then scrape it off with your fingernail. Use nothing else as it might scratch the surface.

Rinse-repeat until all traces are gone. Then clean with Windex to get the Goo Gone off.

I am reworking much of the rig. Solid stating the PS and revamping the Mic and Modulator sections as per Timtron (WA1HLR). As I work on the electronics and do the WA1HLR mods, I am "re-drafting" the schematic. Once I am finished, I will make it available to the public along with Timmy's mods (After he blesses it for human consumption that is).

Good luck with the DX-100, they are a great rig!

73, cul...

Hi Bob,

Congrats on the progress. I have one on my bench in the garage and you
have inspired me to get started! Fortunately mine was from a non
nicotine addicted person! I hate to think what the mike looked like
that was used with your rig!

Did you use anything special (solvent wise) for the cleanup? I have a
petrified stick-on label on my panel that has so far resisted all
efforts to remove it!

Hi all,

I just thought I would share what I have been doing to the DX-100
transmitter that I got the other day.
