Some of you may know Carl, W4RCW. He has an extensive collection of gear, test equipment, 2 Gates BC TX's, WW II surplus, Hallicrafters, Hammurlund, along with antique Collins and more modern equipment. He is a frequenter of 160, 75, and 40 meter AM. His station was located in the basement of his home, all antennas are located a minimum of 100 ft away, and all feedlines except one ladder line were installed underground.
His house took a direct lightning hit to the roof, as witnessed by his neighbor and immediately burst into flame. The brick home was a total loss. He was at work, his wife at the beach with the grandkids. His dog did not make it. The house collapsed into the basement, and his years of horse trading, dealing, and restoring are now under rubble and water, not to mention his families personal collection of memorabilia. Hopefully he will be able to rebuild, and perhaps some of his gear is salvageable. It will be a while before any assesment can be made.
