I have a cousin to this converter (visually identical) and I found that it
is very sensitive to low input voltage such as that caused by a lossy
inserter, or insufficient supply current, such as that provided by my Yaesu
Ft-847. It will operate at 12V, but is much less noisy and more stable at
13.8.

The dipole on the end, can be easily replaced with a flange-mount N-type or
BNC jack, by only reaming out the existing screw holes, or just mount it
as-is in fromt of your reflector. I also pig-tailed the I.F. connector
using a section of RG-59, an F-connector crimped on one end, and a
solder-type uhf on the other(it fits well-enough).

This is a handy piece of kit, and supports much wider useful bandwidth than
that specified(depending on the comb filter configuration inside). Mine
goes down to at least 2330(6M I.F.) as tested receiving the XM Satellite 2
kW local rebroadcast station 5 miles from here, having the comb filter
removed.

Enjoy!
