Bill, I will second Dee's recommendation of the LVB tracker for amateur satellite tracking. We always have it running with SATPC32 at the AMSAT booth at Dayton. The Yaesu interface box is a basic, solid, but expensive unit. Both use a standard command syntax, and are supported by many other programs.
The FT-847 is supported very well by SATPC32. Erich has all of its quirks figured out. With SATPC32, an FT-847, and an LVB tracker, you can concentrate on communicating.
