Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Perhaps your observation "c" can be explained by the version of Excel you are 
using.  I'm using MS Office 2010 and it sees all of the columns fine.  An 
earlier report from a tester suggest that some older versions of Excel cannot 
handle all of the columns produced by the telemetry and the program.

the CSV file because the number of columns exceeded the 256 column limit.
(Excel opens OK and all 256 columns contain data)"

I suspect a newer version of Excel is required; maybe OpenOffice can handle it?
