Kev, AO-16 is not currently working.
There is a problem with the watchdog timer in the satellite. While a ground station (usually Mark, N8MH) can command the satellite into the FM/USB repeater or bent-pipe mode, the watchdog resets the satellite within 30 seconds. It was working for a period of time when the satellite was always illuminated by the sun. This elevated the temperature of the electronics and kept the watchdog from resetting the satellite. Unfortunately, the satellite is seeing an eclipse every orbit which has lowered the temperatures. It will be several years before AO-16 enters a period without eclipses again. Mark checks AO-16 every few weeks to see if things have changed, but for the past year or so the watchdog immediately resets the bird.
