Hi there,
Thank you for the feedback, you indeed found the first 0.95 bug :D
yes, I do understand you never mentioned the word "bug", but the "tk
error" is a bug, and as you can see, it doesn't let you do what you want,
so it's bug...also, the "error submission screen" that you talked about is
the new name for the "bug report screen" we had before, I just used that
name because I'm used to it, but for professionalism matters, we decided
to change the "a bug in amsn... send the bug report" into an "an error
occured... submit the error"
I suggest you try something in order to fix that... I assume you use the
/dev/video1 with channel 0. Go to the status window (ctrl-s) and type in
the entry :
::config::setKey webcam/dev/video1:0 "0:0:0:0"
this will probably fix your problem BUT your image will become completly
black, you will have to adjust your settings (brithness, color, etc...) to
the default values again... I don't know what the default values for your
cam should be... mabye put everything at 50%...
Note to Phil : The bug is because noone tried your webcam fix on a profile
with no previous session of webcam... you changed the thing to a "getKey
webcam$device:$channel ":::"" and did a "if { [string is digit $...] }"..
the problem is (and you can try it...) :
[string is digit ""] returns true... the line should become "if {$... !=
"" && [string is digit $...] }"
Note to Jerome too : Now, I REALLY think this is critical and we need to
retag a new 0.95 in CVS... problem is that with this bug, any NEW user
(someone who didn't try cvs) will be unable to launch webcam, at ALL, and
he'll get a bug report... Now that we have a 'kind of stable' CVS, should
we look at the latest bug reports, just to make sure nothing was
introduced ?
djails, thanks again for reporting this, we'll fix it right away.

Read my email one more time, and you ll see I NEVER mentioned the word

in it.
On the "webcam chooser" screen, when I select the device (V4L: Logitech
Quickcam) and the channel (Camera), an error is generated and the error
submission screen shows up. I have attached a screenshot showing the
different screen including the AMSN error window (to submit the error)
that
shows up with the details of what went wrong, so you can see what I m
talking about.
I deleted the file you mentioned
(msn/utils/linux/capture/libng/plugins/drv0-v4l2.so) and still get the
same
problem:
- output on the terminal:
dlsym[./utils/linux/capture/libng/plugins/drv1-v4l.so]:
./utils/linux/capture/libng/plugins/drv1-v4l.so: undefined symbol:
_ng_plugin_init
WARNING: no plugins found [/home/gilles/download/msn]
- Detail of the error:
expected integer but got ""
while executing
"::Capture::SetBrightness $::CAMGUI::webcam_preview $set_b"
(procedure "::CAMGUI::StartPreviewLinux" line 57)
invoked from within
"::CAMGUI::StartPreviewLinux .webcam_chooser.lists.devices.list
.webcam_chooser.lists.channels.list .webcam_chooser.status
.webcam_chooser.preview .web..."
(command bound to event)
Any ideas ?
Hi,
first, you say a bug report is sent, what is that bug ? you could at
least
give us the bug id you got after sending the bug, or copy paste the
"details" information on the bug...
apart from that, it seems you're using v4l2 driver, you should try the
v4l
driver by deleting the
msn/utils/linux/capture/libng/plugins/drv0-v4l2.so
file
and try again and give us feedback...

Here s my "webcam" experience with the latest CVS dowloade...
Running FC4, kernel 2.6.14, port forwarding has been set up on the
linux
gateway (ports 6890 to 6900 are forwarded to the computer running amsn
First, when accessing the "Configure Webcam" screen
(tools->preferences->others-configure webcam), the type field reads:
- "Firewall" if I m logged out,
- "IP-restrict-NAT" if I m logged in.
Shouldnt this field read the same thing and have a consistent behaviour
regardless of the status (logged in or out ) ?
Second, on the "webcam chooser" screen, when I select the device (V4L:
Logitech Quickcam) and the channel (Camera), an error is generated and
the error submission screen shows up. I have a Logitech Quickcam
express
(qc-usb driver 0.6.3) and a BT878 based TV card. The webcam works fine
with awtv
and the test.tcl script that comes with amsn. Some output that might be
useful:
When I run the test.tcl script and when I access the "Configure webcam"
screen, these lines are printed on the terminal I ran amsn from:
dlsym[./libng/plugins/drv0-v4l2.so]: ./libng/plugins/drv0-v4l2.so:
undefined symbol: _ng_plugin_init
dlsym[./libng/plugins/drv1-v4l.so]: ./libng/plugins/drv1-v4l.so:

ioctl:
VIDIOC_QUERYCAP(driver="";card="";bus_info="";version=0.0.0;capabilities=0x0
[]): Unknown error 515
However, the test.tcl scripts runs fine, but not the "webcam chooser"
screen.
If you need more info I m happy to help reproduce this scenarios.

Gilles
