Well, this is the version before my updates - check back. If it is just for one user, try selecting another font / encoding , it is indeed different for each user. But it could also be a system-wide problem. Let me explain: (Read on if you have time, otherwise, just keep that it might be a system-wide problem that only crashes for one user) Normally, when you are trying to display a special character (accented, Greek, Japanese, or whatever) but aMSN cannot display it, either because it has the wrong encoding or because the selected font doesn't know how to display this character, it should display a square. However, if something goes wrong, it crashes with the X_OpenFont message. Many things can go wrong, this is why the FAQ is talking about many possible solutions. Now, it is very likely that one user has contacts with special characters in their nickname and the other one doesn't. If this is the case, the problem might be system-wide, but it only crashes on the user with contacts that have special characters. An easy way to check is to go to the language selection dialog - it contains the names of all languages in the original writing, which means many alphabets. Hope it's not too confusing :) Vivia ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Do you grep through log files for problems? Stop!
