ok, sorry I missed this email before answering your previous one..thanks for answering this (Arieh asking the same question as me:P).. I understand your point.. little comment : maybe you should have asked on the ML before taking the decision (you're admin, so you have the *power* to make decisions on your own, but I'm saying you could have told us.. just to let us know, that's all.. anyways, maybe that's what you did by writing this thread originally.. anyways)... but yes, the decision was legitimate, I understand it, and I accept it, I'm with you on this decision.. the reason why I don't like it though is because of the "I changed it, can you update your cvs version".. especially when markitus was working on amsn plus, he updated his plugin twice a day, so... if we decide to go like this, then I guess we should have a mailing list for this, with maintainers (Thomas is probably too busy to take care of all that alone) just like we do for lang files..

Yes we decided that a long time ago and it sucks...

By example, when we change code in aMSN and it affects plugin, we just have to grep on all plugins in CVS and modify everything at the same time (we did that a lot of time), but if the plugin is not on CVS...the plugin lost compatibility.

Also I saw too many times on the mailing list, "where is the what is plugin, where is the contactcard plugin, where is the contact tray plugin" and then many people have different versions and then it's hard to know what is the real last version. No problem when it's on CVS.

Also, when we keep stuff outside of CVS, it's really hard to have auto-update. Yes people can set up their own server for autoupdate, but remember what happened with the whatis plugin...the autoupdate server went down and now it's impossible to autoupdate that plugin and we didn't have an update for that plugin in many months...With whatis on CVS we could avoid that problem.

What is the reasons to not keep stuff on CVS? Space? It's like 50kb or less...we really don't care...compare with skins, it's a loooot less.

So because this plugin is very likely to get update in the future, it's a good reason to keep it here.

Was there a reason you put it into cvs? Didn't we decide that we would only put plugins written by developers into cvs, and the rest would just have the
zip on the website?

Subject: [Amsn-devel] New plugin on CVS organize_received

Hi, I added a new plugin. Organize_received on CVS. The plugin's
author is Nilton Volpato

Can you add it on the website Thomas? Thanks!

About the autoupdate of this plugin, do I need to set-up something
specific or now the aMSN automatically cares of it? I think I should
add the links in case someone with 0.95 download the plugin right?
