From my point of view, these are abusive rules (... we're used to it :)
) ! It is legal to do reverse engineering when it is for
interoperability ... and as MSN is not available officially for
something else than Windows, then it should be legal. At least in a
couple of countries (France, ...)
What about the other countries ? Has aMSN already experienced some
troubles with Microsoft ?

Hi everybody,
I was just wondering how exactly to best help when it comes to reverse
engeneering the new versions of the MSN-protocol - as "Live" went into
public beta, I thought I'd apply for an account, so that I could test
it, and possibly help test amsn against it (and it's features)
Before signing up, I had a look at the Service Agreement, and it states:
-----
[snip]
The privacy, safety and security of our Service and the users of our
Service are very important to us. You may not use the Service in any way
that could harm the Service, other Service users, Microsoft or our
affiliates. Some examples
[snip]
. Obtaining or trying to obtain any data through any means from the
Service, except if we intend to provide or make it available to you.
. Using access to the Service to obtain any data to design, develop or
update unauthorized software that you use or provide to others to access
or use the Service.
[snip]
-----
I'm now wondering if I'm better served by :
1) having someone else signing up, and only testing from 'the other
side'
2) signing up, and letting you guys do the testing using me as client
only
3) signing up, testing, and disregarding the SA
It should be noted that my TCL-skills are limited, so at least at this
point, I'm probably not the best preson to test as anything but client,
but I can't figure out if this SA will also apply to later versions,
thus making me ineligible to do any development at a later date.
I look forward to your advice
