zero UI design skills, I can't really decide, you should decide both of
you, and write that specs...
I only have one comment though, Karel, I saw you put your changes in
CVS,
and as I already said, it's a great thing to put the words into code!!!
but.. don't you think you're a it too enthousiastic ? the proposal you
made received a lot of comments and nothing was decided yet, and now
harry
comes up with another design, as I said, I want a document, if I wanted
it
to be code, I would have said "think about something nice and do it",
but
I say that I want the doc because it needs to be in writing, give time
for
everyone to give their insight, harry for example might be having a
better
design than yours, or both of your ideas could be merged into a better
design, or we could simply forget what harry designed, but the thing is,
we need to see that, we need the feedback, the doc has to be written,
implementation independant, then submitted to the ML, with a 1 or 2
weeks
time limit for feedback, you get the feedback, incorporate it to the
doc,
send again a new document, give enough time again for feedback, and keep
the back and forth until no more feedback is available on the new, final
design, you set a deadline in your mail "please respond before XXXXX
YYth", past that date, you are in the right to set it as the official
design that everyone acknowledged. AFTER that, you can begin the
implementation...
This is how it works in most companies, and this is I think the way we
should do it too, but as aMSN is not a corporation, you should keep in
mind that this path is a bit loose and some steps can be forgotten, or
you
can set the deadline after 3 days for example instead of 2 weeks... but
still, I'd like the doc to be written and approved before the
implementation is done or we'll end up with a screwed up menus, a
delayed
0.96 release, and multiple designs, half implemented design of someone,
incoherent result...
