Hi everyone, I've sent a couple of emails to the mailing list with some patches, but since I'm getting a little bit more involved with AMSN, Youness suggested I introduce myself here "telling us about you and your skills"
I'm a 26 year old guy from Uruguay, South America. I got my computer engineering degree in 2003. I've worked in very varied places (making boring corporate applications, in the Navy doing the graphics part of a radar, made a custom CAD, worked in a company doing low level networking stuff - www.netlabs.com.uy, in a company doing code generation - www.artech.com.uy, and in late 2004 I finally quit to work fulltime in the casual game development company a friend and I had founded in late 2002 - www.mysterystudio.com I also teach Computer Graphics at my local university since 2002 (first as an assistant, then as the professor since 2004) and lead the Computer Graphics and Computer Vision research group there. I'm an avid Linux and open source user. I develop exclusively on Linux thanks to a cross-platform framework I made which allows us to compile to Windows, Linux and Mac without changes. My open source contributions are mainly LibZ80 ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/libz80 ) and I also was the maintainer of a Linmodem driver ( see here - http://modemdriver.com/winmodems.htm ). Skills - I'm mostly a C++ guy who also loves Python. I have no experience with TCL but I've seen functional languages before (Haskell at the university) and I had some actual work experience with something as esoteric as Prolog and survived so I don't expect TCL to be a problem. I tend to like low level stuff, as you can see from my open source projects. Youness has been kind enough to grant me commit permissions (I was bugging him too much to commit my patches ;) ) so I guess that makes me part of the dev team :) My plan for now is to commit bugfixes and improve things (like the "all users with logs" patch) while I familiarize with the structure of the code before attempting to add new features. My native language is spanish so I may help with the translation as well since I use AMSN in spanish. Anyway, I hope to be of some help here :) Thanks, --Gabriel ________________________________________________________________________ Gabriel Gambetta Mystery Studio - http://www.mysterystudio.com Gabriel's Stuff - http://www.mysterystudio.com/gabriel ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
