I believe with GPL you are aloud to edit it but you still have to provide
the source code for other people with the changes you made.
Personally I wouldn't not like the name to be changed and can only suggest
that you make your own skin for it.
Instead of branding it why not just put a link on your site to say here is a
alternative to msn and link to amsn website and you could include another
link on your site to the skin you made that matches your web sites look and
feel.

My personal opinion is that aMSN is a messenger in itself, that was
created by the work of a huge community of
developers as well as users.. if you want to use it as a 'talkingabout
messenger' and make it loose it's "aMSN"
name, it's like you just removed everyone's contribution because the name
"aMSN" holds that significance (at
least to my eyes). Having a "talkingabout messenger" would make it look
like your own products and almost noone
reads the About boxes anyway... so my feeling is that it better keep its
original name.
Also, if your site becomes popular, it will advertise aMSN and we'd like
to have that type of advertisement, if
you distribute it under your own name, we won't get anything out of it..
I'm not asking for anything in exchance
apart respect and appreciation for the hard work everyone has put into
this software and I beleive you can't
provide that by renaming our product.
I don't know if I made myself clear or if I just rattled for nothing...
but if you understood me, I'd just like
to repeat that this is my personal opinion, it may or may not be shared by
other members of this community and
it might not be in compliance with the license...
