I am upgrading from analog 4.13 to the latest version 5.31. I am running
analog on an HP/Compaq alpha with OS Tru64 UNIX 5.1a. Under version 4.13 I
would specify the LOGFILES using a wildcard, e.g.

LOGFILE /var/log/httpd/y2k.maths.ox.ac.uk/access.log*

which worked a treat. However under version 5.31 I get an error message

/local/packages/analog-5.31/analog: Warning F: Failed to open logfile
  /var/log/httpd/y2k.maths.ox.ac.uk/access.log*: ignoring it

I've recompiled 4.13 (in case anything has change on the system in the
meantime) and it still works fine with the wildcard.

Looking at the code which reports the error input.c I can see it has
changed but this time any simple changes I made just break it.

This is not a serious problem since using a succession of LOGFILE commands
to list all my log files individually without wildcards works fine (for
compressed and uncompressed logs) although it would be more pleasing to be
able to use the wildcard.

I see several other similar reports for OS/2 and solaris in the mail list
archive but no solution (beyond listing the files individually).

Keith
