Cache files don't include the information necessary to give 7 day totals -
the reason cache files are small is because the links between a specific
request and when it was requested aren't there any more. But in this case,
because you have data from "real" log files, you will get 7-day informtion,
but only if the requests occurred in th last 7 days. Data from the 16th and
17th of January doesn't.
It's actually the 7 days before a TO command - you don't have one, so it
defaults to "now". You can get the information for the 2 days of "real" logs
by putting "TO 060118:0000" in your config.
(This is true for the "last 7 days" numbers in the General summary - I don't
actually know if it also applies to sorting and setting floors by the last 7
days, but I assume it does).
When I was putting analog system together above did cross my mind - but
after testing, didn't believe it to be an issue.
Then this would also be the case for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd...6th of each month.
At first of each month, I make cache of all the last month - then begin
creating reports from current month - so 4nd of Jan for instance will
have the gzip'd logs from 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th, and previous X months
from cache files.
You may need to split your report in two - for example, turn off the host
and domain report in your main run, to free up the memory they take up, and
then run a second report with everything turned off except those reports.
If I did this - I would have to manually put report/html file together?
- since it just overwrites each report file, that or create multiple
reports/html files ...
How long does Analog take to generate the reports?
Start of the month ~16-20mins, end of the month 2+hours.
Dual 3Ghz machine (with HT), and 4GB memory.
p.s. just ran analog off just cache files with FILEEXCLUDE option
instead of REQEXCLUDE - just bombed out due to lack of memory.

Sean
