Hi,
i also tried several suggested workarounds: PNG24, 96dpi, dithering,
accessed the png from the raw res folder... without success.
since the png must be partially translucent i cant use jpeg.

Other 3rd party wallpaper apps get around this, so the knowledge must
be somewhere!
