I have to agree with the poster (Murphy) who said to make it a "firm
prerequisite". If you don't already know Java, then you will be
overwhelmed with too many new concept to learn all at once. That is
always bad pedagogy.
In fact, you should not only know the Java language, you should also
have at least some familiarity with another Java package for
supporting a GUI. That will prove very helpful for understanding why
the Android packages are organized and arranged the way they are. But
it is not so necessary, just helpful.
You should also know a little about OOD/OOP and Patterns. This too
will throw light on why the Android packages are the way they are; it
will make it much easier to remember and learn.
