Ok, if it Google doesn't want it done, could someone explain why?

Doesn't make sense to me. A critical part of having a software
business, planning to make money from writing and selling
applications, is to learn how you're supposed to sell it and search
for competitors.

Especially in the Android area... there are many phones, you can't
possibly buy them all. You need a good simulator. You need a simulator
that runs applications from the market. Why would this be discouraged?

The easiest specific solution would be to have a browser accessible
version of the market. This would be very useful for potential Android
purchasers. Folks talk about all the apps, but what is really
available? With the iPhone you can browse with iTunes. But on Android,
nothing?

But the best solution is to be able to run the emulator as a very
functional specific device, such as the Motorola Droid. That way you
can see how your app looks in the proper resolution and compare it
with other apps that you run on the same emulated device.
