+1 for Safety Net

I just want to provide a quick overview of the idea. I'm hoping to have a
web site up soon to promote it. Safety Net was designed to be a personal
alert system. I have a daughter that I will be sending off to college in a
few years and I couldn't stand hearing about some of the attacks that were
taking place on these kids. My goal was to take the technology that Android
provides and try to create a deterrent of some sort.

I live in the Boston area and ironically just as I found out that my app was
selected for the top 50, a news report came on about an attack that just
took place the previous night at Harvard University. Here is the story if
anyone is interested.

There are actually four different modes that can be accessed via the
interface, Panic, Silent, Medical Emergency and Tracker. I will provide a
more in depth description soon. My application also has an additional mode
of operation that I can't mention at this time but I'm very excited about
its potential.

My goal is to see this application in the world and to hopefully make a
difference in someone's life. I have seen some fantastic products presented
on this forum. I am really looking forward to using them someday. I am just
a single developer with a full time job. No team. I spent more hours on this
than any of my other crazy ideas and believe me there have been many. I am
still trying to get caught up on sleep. No video and as I said, not even a
web site yet to support it. I guess what I'm trying to say to anyone that
will listen is don't give up on the dream. We all got involved for one
reason or another whether the hope to create something fun to use or
something that will help someone in some way. I think that this platform
gives us all something very special, a voice.

Dan U. thanks for responding to an email that I posted regarding how I
should deliver some audio files in my project. It made me rethink the
process which I do believe made a difference. Also my hat goes off to
Plusminus for his wonderful web site.

I hope to have some additional information available soon. Good luck to
everyone!

Mike D.
