All winning applications I have seen so far are the kind of applications that nobody can complete if the original deadline was not changed (For those of you who forgot, the original deadline was not April 14 but more than a month earlier). We did not pursue our entry because we felt we selected an application that cannot win. We selected an application based on the original deadline because we assumed the original deadline will be strictly followed. When the extension was announced, it was too late for us to change our entry to a more sophisticated application.
I felt, and I still feel, that before the orignal deadline some entries under development were already disclosed to OHA. If you'll notice, the winning entries are really great (I can say WOW! to say the least) and I think OHA thought those apps were so great that it would be a pity if those apps could not make it just because of a short deadline. Hence, the extension. I am happy about our decision not to pursue (we'll surely lose), and I am excited of me using the winning applications when gphone finally arrives. In the meantime, I'm having feast in getting ideas from the winning apps and see what I can use to develope my next iphone/windows mobile application.
