The forum is only useful if you want to post your idea to the world, which
isn't really a great plan if you don't want somebody else to pick it up.

We did, however, let a group of people in on our ideas and review them.
That feedback would be very useful.

I would assume we get no feedback.  It will invite response.  I think it
would help people digest the outcome of the contest better, but I may think
that because I am a participant and I want the feedback.  A disinterested
third party might conclude that it will just make people more angry.
