Consumers don't yet know what Android handsets will look like, when exactly they will debut or how much they will cost. On Monday, Google lifted the veil briefly by announcing 50 applications it plans to support on Android. The applications are an eclectic group. About 60% of the top 50 came from outside the U.S., says Eric Chu, a Google (nasdaq: GOOG - news - people ) Android spokesperson. That roughly corresponds to the original group of submissions, of which two-thirds were international. Among the 50: a musical instrument tutorial from the U.K., a barcode- scanning program from Montana and an electronic golf caddy from Spain.
