I think there was a little bit of context lost in the interview, but yes,
Shane is correct:  this will be a gallery for static content provided by the
Challenge participants, not a mechanism for allowing end users to download
and install applications.  We haven't yet announced the plans for
application distribution.
Personally, I like this idea because if I had submitted an application, I'd
want something to show people who asked.  I think of this as sort of like a
huge group photo of all the participants.  We can't get everyone into a
single photo, but we can at least put up a page to show off the apps!  Since
there are a lot of submissions, this will take a little time to get set up,
though.
