No answers to his question? I also tried doing this with no success on a Droid. I tried "market://details?id=com.my.package" and "<a href='market://details?id=com.my.package'>link</a>"
Links with http:// need no special markup, they just work. For instance, including http://www.google.com in a text message results in the url being shaded blue. And when you click the link it opens the browser as expected.
